In what had been said to be The Beach’s final race before beginning his breeding career standing at Hanover farms, the mood was full of reminiscence already… a full field of great three year olds went behind the gate in the Breeders Crown Final at the Meadowlands and Somebeachsomewhere would not disappoint… Shadow Play and Somebeachsomewhere came off the gate strongly and The Beach took the lead with authority, and that lead would not be relinquished as he reeled off fractions of 27.0 54.3 1:22.0 and finished with a 26.3 last quarter on the cool 39 degree Saturday night for a final time of 1:48.3.

There was great news for Somebeachsomewhere fans shortly after the race, as the connections announced that The Beach will race again, and we can look forward to seeing him in the Matron Stakes at Dover Downs in December! (edit) Unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

Somebeachsomewhere starting from post 3 in the Ontario Sires Stake Super Final for a purse of $300,000 at Woodbine on November 15th 2008…. The track was sloppy and the temperature was a cool 2 degrees, but The Beach showed he is a champion horse no matter the track condition… he rocketed to the lead right off the start and was all alone in setting all the fractions in 27 54.2 1:21 1:50.3 with an 11 length victory pushing Somebeachsomewhere’s lifetime earnings to nearly $3 million dollars!
