Paul Macdonell rushed Somebeachsomewhere straight to the front from post two and took command immediately hitting the quarter in 26.1… the half rolled to 55.2, and with a little prompting by some backfield action ‘The Beach’ pulled away at the 3/4 in 122.4 and coasted to victory in an amazing world record time of 1:49.2 at Flamboro Downs… the fastest ever mile paced by a three year old on a half mile track. The win pushes Somebeachsomewhere’s lifetime earnings past the $2.25 million dollar mark.

Sunday, August 17th, 2008Somebeachsomewhere started from post 3 in the six horse field and sprinted from the 1/8th pole to the first quarter to take over the lead in 26.2 and looked relaxed the rest of the way with Paul Macdonnell driving a well rated mile with fractions of 56 to the half, 1:24.4 to the three quarters, and a final quarter in 26.4 for the 1 and three quarter length victory in 1:51.3 on the half mile oval of Flamboro Downs.
The 32nd edition of the Confederation Cup in 2008 is a two heat division, with Somebeachsomewhere’s elimination carded as the ninth race of the day, with the top finishers of two eliminations going into the final which is the 12th race of the day.
Ontario Sires Stake Gold Final – 3 Yr Olds
Sunday, August 10th, 2008Somebeachsomewhere had post 3 in an eight horse field August 10th in the Ontario Sires Stake Gold Final for three year olds at Mohawk going for a purse of $180,000 and driver Paul Macdonell floated “The Beach” off the gate to sit fourth…. the first quarter was blazing in 25.4 at which point Macdonell pulled Somebeachsomewhere and rocketed to the front to take command.
Somebeachsomewhere was a comfortable leader the rest of the mile, cutting fractions of 54.0 to the half and 1:21.3 to the three quarter pole, with a last quarter of 27.4 for a mile in 1:49.2, a new stakes record. The crowd roared through the stretch drive as Somebeachsomewhere tallied his 12th lifetime win.
2008 Three-Year-Old Open at Mohawk
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008Coming off of the oh so close heartbreaking second place finish in the world record Meadowlands Pace 2008, Somebeachsomewhere faced five other three year olds at Mohawk on August 3rd. Paul Macdonell sent Somebeachsomewhere straight to the front off of the gate setting fractions of 28.1 and 55.0 flat, still holdng at the 3/4 in 1:22.2 up by a length and a half, and cruised to a very relaxed near track record two and three quarter length victory in 1:49.0. He looked comfortable and in fine shape and Paul had a big smile on his face as the big horse coasted through the wire.
